The logistic support system should be considered as a separate system, which runs parallel to the design of the primary system. The logistic support strategy shall be defined in the very beginning, during the conceptual design, since it has a high impact on the maintainability and availability of the plant. The methodology proposed by ETM provides an analysis of the characteristics of each proposed configuration and its implications on maintenance facilities, available workshops, cargo handling, transportation, critical spare parts and the general guidelines of the maintenance policy to be adopted.
